If you brew a drink without the drip tray in place, the drying part of each serving actually occurs in the cup, if the cup is not removed. So once the “serving” part is completed, it will drip into the cup. This is normal behavior. If you make a serving with the drip tray, the dripping part / drying part will go into drip tray instead of cup.
